The rebellious Count Wilhelm of Seefeld was granted amnesty in Augsburg the following year. Despite the castle's destruction, the chapel endured, preserving its sacred role through the centuries.
Inside the chapel, visitors are greeted by a stunning cycle of Gothic frescoes, commissioned around 1400-1410. These murals, attributed to a Munich or Augsburg painter, depict scenes from the life of St. George. Although only 18 of the original 50 panels remain, they vividly portray the saint's martyrdom, adhering to the earliest known legends of St. George, which predate the famous dragon-slaying tale.
The chapel's interior also features a net-vaulted choir, added in 1497, and a Baroque high altar from 1675. The altar houses a folk sculpture of St. George with the dragon, flanked by late Gothic statues of St. Agatha and St. Onuphrius. These works are attributed to the Master of the Untermenzinger Altar Figures, showcasing the artistic heritage of the region.
